Equestrian Portraits and Commissions

Turn your precious moments into works of art - your children as they grow, your pet dogs or cats , horses and ponies, your home or beloved family all together .

No photograph can substitute a real painting but can be used in the creation of a beautiful portrait to grace your home for years!

If you are interested in Judi Kent Pyrah's work, Originals or Limited Edition Prints or you would like to commission a painting please telephone or email Judi directly and she will be happy to discuss any requirements or answer any queries.

Judi works from a combination of life drawings, her own photographs and the client's own photograph .However  she can work from just the client's own photos, especially if the subject is unavailable or if the painting is to be a surprise gift!

Subjects can be arranged together in a neutral, specific or favourite background and cosmetic or specific alterations can be made to enhance  the finished portrait and create the most memorable and aesthetically pleasing image for posterity.

Her favourite media are Oils & Acrylics painted on masonite.  This allows for a much faster and more robust finished painting can be cut to any size: from 6 x 6 in to a maximum of 8 x 4 ft.

Her technique using acrylics immitates the richness and depth of colour typically associated with oils but without the drying time and sensitvity to heat and atmosphere some oils on canvas or board can be prone to.  Judi also enjoys working in various other media  ie: pastel, watercolour, pencil or mixed medium. and used to teach Painting Portraits in Pastels.

Completion  time will vary with size and content but a straight forward portrait would normally be ready in a month of receiving the required reference.

Framing is usually the client's responsibility as it is dependent on individual's own preferences as well as compatibility with the style  or decor where it will be seen,  however with consultation this service can also be provided.

Judi will be happy to simply discuss your requirements and ideas by telephone, review reference material via email orpost  all without commitment and you may discover it's not as expensive as you think! .

The price is adjusted according to size, number of subjects and specific backgrounds and where necessary, travel expenses etc.

A deposit of 20% of the total estimate is needed to secure the commission before work commences.
